In July 2023, Eva Ursprung presented Mobilise/Demobilise at the SETI Conference, held at the IFI-LIP (Institut Francais Indonesia), Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The theme was “Evolution of the Unknown”. The conference invited participants from various fields across science, art, tradition, astrophysics, astronomy, space science, humanities and other contemporary fields of study to share experiences of facing the (complete) unknown, and the impact of the unknown or unknown on culture and the (space) human imagination.
In her performative presentation, Eva introduced the Mobilise/Demobilise project along with a soundscape and animations in UpStage, and discussed the research that we started during the Taking Space worklab a few months earlier, looking at what the impact of mining on the moon could be. Her talk is published here as part of the conference proceedings.
The conference also gave her the opportunity to meet and network with people from NASA and other related organisations, such as Gunalan Nadarajan who was the director of ISEA in Singapore and curator at Documenta9, Ars Electronica and Transmediale.
